Static Images (with verbose textual directions) vs. Progressive Zoom : http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2002/07/17/smil.html?page=3 The idea is to maximize the versatility of a generic XHTML+SMIL zoom effect; so the strategy on this project will be to play with the margins and dimensions of a picture using the t:animate element.
Spatial montage -- the division of the screen area to allow several images to coexist in parallel -- use it to created a "directed reading" where pieces of a picture and a text are enhanced to give "close-ups" to different sections without loosing the overall context.

Dao (Tao) is a pivotal concept of ancient Chinese thought. 'Way' is similarly primitive (it resists analytic definition). We can only offer synonyms: e.g., 'course', 'method', 'manner', 'mode', 'style', 'means', 'practice', 'fashion', 'technique' and so on. We discover the circularity when we try to analyze one of the synonyms without recourse to the term 'way' with which we began.
"Followers of Tao may indulge in spiritual visions for a time, but they eventually learn that there is something more important than the endless exploration of visions." - 365 Tao Daily Meditations (Deng Ming-Dao)

"It only takes one idea, one second in time, one friend, one dream, one leap of faith, to change everything, forever. Just one! Yet eternity lies in the palm of your hand." - The Universe
